Security forces, in the Thado Obo area of Kurram district, neutralized six terrorists during a timely intelligence-based operation (IBO) thwarting what sources described as a planned large-scale terrorist attack aimed at disrupting peace and stability in the region.
According to sources, security forces launched the operation after receiving credible intelligence regarding the presence and activities of terrorists in the area. Acting swiftly, troops moved against the suspected hideout and engaged the terrorists, resulting in the elimination of all six during the operation.
Sources said the terrorists were allegedly planning a major attack in the district, but the operation prevented the plot from being carried out. Security personnel subsequently conducted a search of the area to ensure that no terrorist elements remained in the vicinity.
The latest success comes amid continuing efforts by security forces to dismantle terrorist networks operating in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the tribal districts. Officials and security observers have repeatedly stressed that intelligence-led operations remain a key component of Pakistan’s counterterrorism strategy.
In a separate incident, security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation in the Khuziyai Darpa Khel area of Miranshah, North Waziristan, where six terrorists were also neutralized following a fierce exchange of fire. Security forces had cordoned off the area after receiving reports about the presence of terrorist elements, while a clearance operation was launched to ensure the area was fully secured.
The back-to-back operations underscore the continued vigilance of Pakistan’s security forces and their commitment to preventing terrorist groups from regrouping or carrying out attacks against civilians and state institutions.
