A quadcopter-based attack carried out by Khawarij targeted the residence of a local political figure in the Spin Wam area of North Waziristan, after extortion demands not met leaving three children injured, according to local police officials.
Authorities reported that the home of Malik Liaquat Ali Khan, a local leader affiliated with the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), was struck by an explosive device delivered via a quadcopter drone. Preliminary reports indicate that the attack followed alleged extortion demands that were not met.
Police confirmed that three minors were injured in the incident, including the politician’s son and two nephews. The injured children were provided medical assistance, and their condition has been described as stable.
Security officials characterized the attack as a serious escalation, highlighting the use of drone technology by Khawarij to target civilian residences. Authorities noted that such tactics pose a growing threat to public safety, particularly to non-combatants.
The incident follows an earlier attack in the Bara area, where Khawarij reportedly fired a mortar shell at a residential property, injuring seven individuals, including women and children. Investigations are ongoing to determine any links between the two incidents.
