Khyber Operation Leaves 22 Khawarij Dead, Child Martyred as Fierce Gunbattle Engulfs Area: ISPR

Security forces, in coordination with law enforcement agencies, carried out a joint intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber District, resulting in the killing of at least 22 Khawarij, according to official and security sources.

The operation was launched on the basis of credible intelligence regarding the presence of Khawarij elements in the area. During the operation, security personnel engaged the militants in an intense exchange of fire, successfully neutralizing all 22 individuals. Authorities confirmed that those killed were affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij, a term used for proscribed militant elements.

Security sources reported that the Khawarij resorted to indiscriminate firing during the operation. Tragically, a 10-year-old child was martyred in the crossfire, underscoring the grave risks posed to civilians during such engagements.

Officials further stated that a large cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the killed Khawarij, indicating their operational readiness and capacity for sustained militant activity.

A clearance operation is currently underway in the area to eliminate any remaining threats and to ensure the safety and security of local residents. Security forces remain on high alert as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts.

Reaffirming their commitment, security institutions stated that operations under the national campaign “Azm-e-Istehkam” will continue without interruption until terrorism is completely eradicated.
