Bomb Defused in Bannu; Separate Shooting Leaves Police Officer and Child Injured

Security personnel successfully neutralized an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Kakki area of Bannu District, averting a potential terrorist incident, while a separate shooting attack in the district left a police officer and his young daughter injured, officials confirmed.

According to security sources, the bomb disposal squad responded to reports of a suspicious explosive device planted by unidentified militants in Kakki. The device was safely defused without causing any casualties or damage, preventing what authorities described as a potentially serious threat to public safety.

In a separate incident in the Shah Dev area of Bannu, unidentified armed assailants on motorcycles opened fire, injuring a police officer and his five-year-old daughter. Both victims sustained injuries and were immediately shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

Law enforcement officials stated that the condition of the injured is being closely monitored, while emergency medical assistance was promptly provided following the attack.

Police and security forces swiftly cordoned off the area after the shooting and launched a search operation to apprehend the suspects involved. Investigations are currently underway to determine the motive behind the attack and identify those responsible.

Authorities have condemned the incidents and reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order in the region. Security measures in sensitive areas have been further tightened to prevent any recurrence of such attacks.

The back-to-back incidents underscore ongoing security challenges in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where law enforcement agencies continue efforts to counter militant threats and ensure the safety of civilians.
