Serious allegations of a purported coordinated war plan targeting Pakistan have emerged following revelations by former US intelligence officer Sarah Adams, who has alleged that al-Qaeda, the Afghan Taliban and other affiliated networks are pursuing a broader strategy to expand their influence into Pakistani territory.
Speaking on the Shawn Ryan Show, Adams described what she called a “FATA War Plan”, alleging that al-Qaeda, the Afghan Taliban and al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) were working alongside a Pakistani political group identified as Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F).
Her remarks have also brought JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman into the spotlight, with the interview alleging the involvement of the party’s leadership in the purported plan. These allegations have not been independently substantiated.
According to Adams, the alleged strategy involves establishing control over Pakistan’s former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan under the banner of a proposed “Pashtunistan”.
She claimed that the purported plan envisages creating a buffer zone between Afghanistan and Pakistan before advancing towards a broader territorial and political expansion.
Adams further alleged that the ultimate objective of the extremist network would be to bring parts of Pakistan under the political and ideological structure of the so-called Islamic Emirate. Adams also alleged that the Afghan Taliban leadership and al-Qaeda maintain strategic coordination, with both organisations pursuing interconnected regional objectives.
She specifically referred to Taliban Supreme Leader Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada and al-Qaeda-linked leadership while discussing the alleged long-term expansion strategy.
Her statements raise serious questions about the relationship between the Afghan Taliban and international terrorist networks, as well as the potential implications for Pakistan’s territorial integrity and regional security.
One of the most consequential aspects of Adams’ interview was her claim that JUI-F was associated with the alleged plan. The inclusion of a Pakistani political party in such serious allegations warrants particular scrutiny.
The allegations should therefore be examined through credible investigation and an opportunity for the individuals and organisation concerned to respond.
