Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has stated that one year after the Pahalgam incident, India has still failed to present any credible evidence to support its allegations, reiterating that Pakistan will respond decisively to any act of aggression.
Speaking in an exclusive media interaction in Islamabad, the minister said that a full year has passed since what he referred to as the “Pahalgam false flag operation,” yet India has not produced substantive or verifiable evidence to substantiate its claims. He added that the incident reflects what he described as a narrative driven by contradiction, political posturing, and lack of factual grounding.
Attaullah Tarar stated that serious questions continue to be raised regarding the procedural handling of the case, including the rapid registration of an FIR within minutes of the incident. According to him, such swift action suggests that elements of the documentation may have been prepared in advance, raising concerns over procedural transparency.
He further argued that India has not provided satisfactory responses to legitimate questions raised in connection with the incident, despite repeated calls for clarity.
The minister alleged that segments of the Indian media have repeatedly promoted unverified narratives without presenting concrete evidence, and have failed to substantiate claims with credible documentation or independent verification.
He also stated that international observers, including sections of global media, Indian civil society, political figures, and policy think tanks, have raised questions regarding inconsistencies in the official narrative surrounding the incident.
Reiterating Pakistan’s longstanding stance, the minister said that Kashmir remains an internationally recognized disputed territory, while India attempts to present it as an internal matter. He further stated that terrorism is a regional challenge that requires objective and depoliticized approaches rather than narrative-based attribution.
The minister recalled that Pakistan had previously offered support for an independent, transparent, and impartial investigation into the Pahalgam incident, aimed at establishing facts through verifiable mechanisms.
He emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to peaceful resolution of disputes and constructive engagement, while reserving the right to defend its sovereignty and national security.
Attaullah Tarar stated that Pakistan’s counterterrorism operations are ongoing and widely acknowledged internationally. He reaffirmed that the country remains fully committed to eliminating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
At the same time, he warned that any external aggression or misadventure would be met with a “decisive response,” underscoring that national sovereignty, dignity, and security remain non-negotiable priorities.
The minister added that there is broad national consensus in Pakistan on eradicating terrorism and strengthening internal security. He said that the armed forces and state institutions remain fully engaged in counterterrorism efforts across the country.
He also referenced previous military engagements, stating that Pakistan has demonstrated its defensive capability and resolve in past confrontations.
