Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, has stated that the evolving demands of future warfare require a fundamental reassessment of traditional combat strategies, alongside the development of a technologically advanced and intellectually strong human resource base.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Naval Chief made these remarks during a visit to the Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore, where he addressed participants of the 55th Pakistan Navy Staff Course.
During his address, Admiral Naveed Ashraf highlighted the rapidly changing nature of modern warfare and the emerging challenges to maritime security. He emphasized that both conventional and unconventional threats now require adaptive strategies aligned with contemporary realities.
He underlined that responding effectively to these evolving challenges demands continuous transformation in operational thinking, doctrine, and capability development. The Naval Chief reiterated Pakistan Navy’s commitment to modernization, strengthening indigenous defence capabilities, and enhancing joint operational synergy among the three services of the Armed Forces.
He stressed the importance of developing a force that is not only technologically equipped but also intellectually resilient, capable of making informed strategic decisions in complex operational environments. Admiral Naveed Ashraf urged course participants to further enhance their strategic insight and operational competencies in order to effectively respond to future security challenges.
Speaking on maritime security dynamics, the Naval Chief stated that the Indian Ocean region is increasingly becoming a complex and competitive theatre due to rapidly shifting geopolitical developments and intensifying rivalry among major global powers. He noted that these dynamics are significantly impacting the regional security environment, making maritime stability more critical than ever before.
Reaffirming the Pakistan Navy’s institutional vision, Admiral Naveed Ashraf highlighted continued efforts towards modernization, indigenous capability enhancement, and strengthened tri-services cooperation. He emphasized that jointness among the armed forces remains a key pillar in ensuring an effective response to both traditional and emerging security threats.
In his concluding remarks, the Naval Chief congratulated the participants of the 55th Pakistan Navy Staff Course on the successful completion of their training. He encouraged them to make professionalism, analytical thinking, and innovation central to their future responsibilities, enabling them to contribute effectively to national defence and strategic preparedness.
