Locals Ambush Armed Khawarij Infiltration Attempt from Tirah; One Apprehended, Others Escape Under Pressure in Orakzai

In a prompt and courageous response this evening, local civilians in the Sangra area of Orakzai successfully intercepted and foiled an attempted infiltration by a group of Khawarij affiliated with the banned FAK Lashkar-e-Islam (LI/IMP) network.

Initial information indicates that a group of approximately five to six Khawarij, reportedly operating under the leadership of a commander identified as Muhammad Din, was attempting to move into the Sangra area on three motorcycles. The group is reported to have entered the vicinity from Akakhel Shadalay in the Tirah area of Khyber District with the intent to advance further into the region.

Upon reaching Sangra, the group was confronted by vigilant local residents, whose timely action resulted in the apprehension of one of the Khawarij. The remaining individuals reportedly managed to flee the area under pressure.

The apprehended individual has been identified as Abdul Amin, son of Mumtaz Khan, a resident of Zakha Khel Afridi, Tehsil Bara, District Khyber. He was taken into custody along with a cache of weapons and equipment recovered from his possession. The recovered items included one AK-47 rifle, six magazines, 140 rounds of ammunition, one hand grenade, and one bandolier.

Following the incident, relevant security and law enforcement authorities were immediately informed. A coordinated response has been initiated, and search and clearance operations are currently underway to trace and apprehend the remaining members of the group as well as their facilitators.

The swift and decisive action of the local population has been widely acknowledged, as it prevented a potentially serious security threat and demonstrated strong community resolve against the presence and movement of Khawarij elements in the area.
