The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa successfully carried out an intelligence-based operation in Kohat, Eliminates three suspected Khawarij during a fierce exchange of fire.
According to the CTD spokesperson, the operation was launched after receiving credible intelligence that militants affiliated with “Fitna Al-Khawarij” were planning a subversive activity. The suspects had reportedly set up a checkpoint near Shakardara Road to intercept and target law enforcement personnel.
Acting swiftly, the CTD’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team reached the location. Upon arrival, the militants opened indiscriminate fire on the CTD personnel, prompting a strong and professional retaliatory response. During the intense gun battle, three terrorists were killed on the spot.
Authorities recovered three Kalashnikov rifles, nine magazines, and a significant quantity of ammunition from the deceased militants. However, several accomplices managed to flee the scene. A search operation is currently underway to apprehend the escaped suspects.
The identification process of the killed militants is ongoing.
Additional Inspector General of CTD praised the bravery and professionalism of the personnel involved in the operation. He reiterated that eliminating terrorism remains a top priority and affirmed that intelligence-based operations will continue until lasting peace is established in the province.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, under the directives of Inspector General Zulfiqar Hameed, remain committed to ensuring law and order and eradicating terrorism from the region.
