The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) successfully neutralized five terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted in a border area near Attock after an intense exchange of fire with militants.
According to the CTD spokesperson, the operation was launched following credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area. As CTD teams moved to apprehend the suspects, the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on the law enforcement personnel in an attempt to evade arrest.
CTD officials responded swiftly and effectively, resulting in a fierce gun battle. During the exchange of fire, all five terrorists were killed. No casualties were reported among the CTD personnel involved in the operation.
The successful operation reflects the unwavering commitment and operational readiness of the Counter Terrorism Department in combating terrorism and safeguarding the lives and property of citizens. The timely action prevented potential terrorist activities and dealt a significant blow to extremist elements operating in the region.
During the subsequent search and clearance operation, security personnel recovered a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, and explosive materials from the terrorists. The seized items included:
- Suicide jackets
- Hand grenades
- SMG rifles
- Large quantities of ammunition
- Explosive and bomb-making materials
Authorities have initiated the process of identifying the deceased terrorists, while further investigations are underway to determine their affiliations, operational networks, and possible involvement in previous terrorist activities.
A CTD spokesperson stated that the department remains fully committed to eliminating terrorist threats and will continue intelligence-driven operations across the province to ensure peace, stability, and public safety.
“The Counter Terrorism Department, in close coordination with other law enforcement and security agencies, will continue its relentless efforts against terrorists and their facilitators.
