Khwarij launched a cowardly quadcopter attack targeting innocent civilians within the jurisdiction of Ahmed Zai Police Station, District Bannu, resulting in the martyrdom of two civilians, including a woman, while two others sustained injuries.
Following the incident, Bannu Police responded swiftly and effectively, launching a comprehensive joint operation against the Khwarij involved in the attack.
According to details, immediately after receiving information about the incident, a coordinated response was initiated under the supervision of DPO Bannu, Captain (Retd.) Muhammad Furqan Bilal. The operation was conducted with the participation of SP CTD Bannu Region Fazal Wahid Khan, concerned SDPOs and SHOs, District Police, Elite Force, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and members of the Aman Committee.
The joint teams promptly reached the area and launched an extensive search and clearance operation against the Khwarij. The area was cordoned off, while coordinated efforts were undertaken to track the attackers and prevent their escape.
The operation continued from the morning until the afternoon. During the course of the operation, an intense exchange of fire took place between the Khwarij and police personnel. As a result of the successful operation, one Khariji was killed, and his body was recovered. Initial reports further indicate that several other Khwarij were also killed or seriously injured during the exchange of fire.
Taking advantage of the difficult and mountainous terrain, the remaining Khwarij reportedly managed to escape the area while taking their dead and injured associates with them.
The swift response by Bannu Police, CTD, Elite Force, and the Aman Committee demonstrates the forces’ operational readiness and unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of innocent citizens. The coordinated operation also reflects the effectiveness of joint security efforts in confronting the threat posed by Khwarij.
