At least eight civilians, including three women and a young girl, were injured after terrorists carried out a quadcopter attack on a residential area in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district, rescue sources said on Thursday.

According to details, the attack targeted the Kangar Jan Bahadur area, where explosives dropped through a quadcopter struck near the local population, triggering panic among residents.

Rescue officials confirmed that eight people sustained injuries in the attack, including women and children. The injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for medical treatment.

The latest incident comes amid growing concerns over the increasing use of quadcopters and other improvised aerial devices by terrorists in different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Yesterday, a quadcopter strike carried out by khwarij targeted a mosque in Satar Mundan village in Central Kurram, damaging parts of the mosque, nearby residential houses and a madrassa building. The attack was among several recent incidents involving places of worship and civilian areas.

Security observers say the repeated use of quadcopters reflects an evolving pattern in terrorist tactics, allowing attackers to strike civilian populations, police checkpoints and sensitive sites from a distance while avoiding direct confrontation.

Recent months have witnessed multiple such incidents across Bajaur, Hangu, North Waziristan, Lakki Marwat and Bannu, including attacks that injured children, targeted civilian homes and struck public spaces.

Analysts warn that the growing use of commercially adaptable aerial devices by terrorist elements presents an emerging security challenge, expanding the threat landscape beyond conventional attacks and increasing psychological pressure on local communities living in conflict-affected regions.
