Police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district successfully foiled a terrorist attack on Miryan Police Station after an intense exchange of fire with terrorists linked to the banned Fitna al-Khwarij, officials said.
According to police, the terrorists launched a cowardly assault on the police station using sniper fire and heavy weapons late at night. Alert personnel immediately responded, triggering a fierce gun battle that continued for nearly half an hour.
Officials said the effective retaliatory response by police forced the terrorists to flee under the cover of darkness. Following the successful defense of the police station, personnel raised slogans of “Allahu Akbar” in celebration.
District Police Officer Bannu, Yasar Afridi, praised the officers for their timely and courageous response, directing them to maintain the same level of vigilance in future operations.
“The terrorists of Fitna al-Khwarij do not have the courage to face security forces in open combat and instead resort to cowardly attacks from hiding,” the DPO said.
He added that every cowardly attack by terrorists was being responded to with full force, stressing that police personnel remained alert and determined to crush terrorist designs.
The DPO also urged the public to support law enforcement agencies by identifying suspicious elements and “black sheep” hiding among the population to help strengthen counterterrorism efforts.
