Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, met Indonesian Navy Chief Admiral Dr Muhammad Ali at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi as Pakistan and Indonesia reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral defence and security cooperation.

Admiral Dr Muhammad Ali visited GHQ and held detailed discussions with Field Marshal Asim Munir on bilateral defence ties, the regional security situation and matters of mutual interest.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the existing military relationship between Pakistan and Indonesia and agreed to further strengthen defence cooperation, particularly through professional training programmes, defence collaboration and joint military exercises.

Field Marshal Asim Munir reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening its longstanding and brotherly relations with Indonesia. He expressed Pakistan’s desire to expand cooperation with Indonesia in the defence and security sectors, describing military ties between the two countries as important for promoting peace, stability and cooperation in the region.

Admiral Muhammad Ali praised the professional capabilities of Pakistan’s armed forces and acknowledged their contribution to regional peace and stability.

The two sides also agreed to make existing defence cooperation more effective and increase military-level engagements. Professional training programmes, defence cooperation and joint military exercises were identified as key avenues for deepening bilateral military ties.

Pakistan and Indonesia have maintained defence relations for several years, with both countries attaching importance to bilateral cooperation for regional peace and stability.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to advancing the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Indonesia, particularly cooperation in defence and security.
