A key commander of the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), identified as Masood Shah alias Molvi Nusrat, has been confirmed among the 27 terrorists eliminated by security forces while attempting to infiltrate Pakistan from Afghanistan at the Ghulam Khan border in North Waziristan.
According to sources, Molvi Nusrat was a resident of Abakhel area of Lakki Marwat and had served as the so-called welfare emir of the proscribed organization in Mianwali district.
The identification of Molvi Nusrat has provided further details about the terrorist network involved in the attempted cross-border infiltration and the ranks of those eliminated during the security operation.
A few days earlier, security forces had foiled an attempt by a group of terrorists to infiltrate Pakistan from Afghanistan through the Ghulam Khan border area. A total of 27 terrorists were eliminated during the action.
The terrorists were attempting to cross into Pakistan when security forces detected and engaged them, successfully preventing their infiltration into the country.
Among those eliminated was Molvi Nusrat, whose identification as a key TTP commander highlights the operational significance of the group involved in the failed infiltration attempt.
Sources said Molvi Nusrat had links to the terrorist organization’s activities in the region and had previously held an organizational position in Mianwali, where he served as its so-called welfare emir.
The operation at Ghulam Khan comes amid continued attempts by terrorists based in Afghanistan to infiltrate Pakistan and carry out attacks. Security forces have intensified vigilance and intelligence-based measures along the border to prevent such infiltration attempts and disrupt terrorist networks seeking to operate inside Pakistan.
The elimination of 27 terrorists, including a key TTP commander, has dealt a significant blow to the group involved in the attempted infiltration.
