Pakistan Steps Into Growing Iran–US Crisis; Strong Message Issued Over Regional Stability

Pakistan has expressed deep concern over renewed tensions between Iran and the United States, stating that conflict between the two countries serves the interests of neither side and carries wider implications for regional stability, global trade, and energy security.

During the weekly media briefing, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said Pakistan is closely monitoring the evolving regional situation and has urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint, avoid escalation, and pursue diplomatic engagement to resolve outstanding issues.

The spokesperson reaffirmed that Pakistan believes in peaceful dialogue and diplomacy as the most effective means of resolving disputes. He emphasized that stability in the region is essential for economic progress and the well-being of millions of people.

Highlighting the importance of the Strait of Hormuz, Andrabi stated that Pakistan supports the continuation of international trade and the smooth transportation of energy supplies through this vital maritime route. He noted that any disruption in the Strait of Hormuz could have serious consequences for global energy markets, international commerce, and developing economies, particularly countries of the Global South.

“Pakistan remains committed to the principles of peace, stability, and uninterrupted economic connectivity,” the spokesperson said, adding that all conflicts must be addressed through negotiations and diplomatic channels rather than confrontation.

The Foreign Office spokesperson further stated that Pakistan continues to encourage all relevant parties to end violence, reduce tensions, and resume constructive discussions in line with previously agreed frameworks and understandings. He noted that diplomatic efforts remain essential for promoting mutual respect, regional harmony, and shared prosperity.

Andrabi highlighted that Pakistan remains fully aware of the potential negative impact of prolonged instability on global energy supplies, trade routes, food security, and broader economic sectors. He expressed hope that conditions in the Strait of Hormuz would soon return to normal and that safe, free, and uninterrupted movement of commercial vessels would be ensured.

He added that Pakistan has maintained continuous diplomatic engagement with regional and international partners to support de-escalation efforts, encourage dialogue, and contribute toward peaceful solutions to ongoing disputes.

Responding to questions regarding regional cooperation, the spokesperson said that Pakistan continues to support the implementation of existing understandings and memorandums aimed at promoting peace, mutual respect, and cooperation.

He stated that while certain challenges remain, Pakistan will continue encouraging all concerned parties to end hostilities and resume technical-level discussions in accordance with agreed commitments and diplomatic frameworks.

The Foreign Office spokesperson also informed the media that annual bilateral consultations between Pakistan and Portugal were recently held in Islamabad, during which both sides discussed strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across various sectors.

Regarding Pakistan–China relations, Andrabi stated that communication between the two countries remains active at all levels. He reiterated that Pakistan considers the safety and security of all Chinese citizens and personnel present in Pakistan a national responsibility.

Addressing questions related to developments in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, the spokesperson criticised the filing of charges against Kashmiri political leaders by Indian authorities, describing such actions as politically motivated proceedings.

He stated that attempts to suppress political voices through legal cases and trials cannot alter the aspirations of the Kashmiri people or prevent the resolution of the dispute in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions.

Regarding the Pahalgam incident, Andrabi stated that India has not presented evidence to substantiate its allegations, despite Pakistan’s offer to cooperate in investigations. He said that political rhetoric and accusations should not replace transparent and credible processes.

The spokesperson reiterated Pakistan’s position that the Kashmir dispute should be resolved through peaceful means and in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to promoting regional peace, supporting diplomatic solutions to international disputes, and working with global partners to address challenges through dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding.
