A resident of Gireera Imam Shah, identified as Idris, has publicly announced his complete disassociation from his brother and uncle, both alleged to be associated with Khawarij organization, while urging law enforcement authorities to provide him with protection amid security concerns.
Speaking at a press conference at the Bannu Press Club, Idris stated that his brother, Khalid, and his uncle, Commander Zargul alias “Uncle,” are allegedly linked to a proscribed outfit. He, however, strongly distanced himself from their activities, emphasizing that he has no connection whatsoever with their alleged affiliations or actions.
Idris confirmed that he had already expelled his brother from the family home and clearly informed him that he no longer maintains any familial ties. He reiterated that he has completely severed relations with both individuals in order to avoid any association with their alleged activities.
“I have told my brother clearly that he should not come to our village. We have no connection with him anymore,” he stated during the press briefing.
Expressing concern over his personal safety, Idris appealed to the government and law enforcement agencies to ensure his protection, stating that he is a poor, law-abiding citizen with no involvement in any unlawful activity. He urged authorities not to subject him to undue harassment and called for recognition of his efforts to maintain transparency and cooperation with state institutions.
Idris described himself as a working-class individual who spent approximately 16 to 17 years driving a rickshaw to support his family. He also stated that although he has been detained by police on multiple occasions, his record has consistently been cleared following investigations.
He emphasized that he has always cooperated with law enforcement agencies, appearing before authorities whenever summoned, often accompanied by legal counsel and local elders. According to Idris, he also spent around seven years abroad due to prevailing security concerns in his area, as his family feared potential risks arising from the regional situation.
He further noted that he has never carried weapons even in situations of personal enmity, asserting that his conduct can be verified by police records and local testimony. Reaffirming his position, Idris expressed full commitment to continue cooperating with state institutions and law enforcement agencies in the future. He urged that his case be viewed independently and based on his personal conduct rather than the alleged activities of his relatives.
Local observers note that such public declarations of disassociation are increasingly being made in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as families seek to clarify their position amid ongoing security challenges.
