Terrorism in Pakistan Has Links Tracing Back to India: Atta Tarar

Atta Tarar, Federal Minister for Information, stated that Pakistan remains firmly committed to combating terrorism, while rejecting what he described as “baseless allegations” from India.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad in connection with Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, the minister said Pakistan had effectively responded to accusations following the recent incident in Pahalgam, reiterating Islamabad’s call for an impartial and independent investigation.

He noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had clearly presented Pakistan’s position on the matter and offered full cooperation for a neutral inquiry. According to the minister, this stance has garnered international support and reinforced Pakistan’s credibility on the global stage.

“Pakistan has consistently emphasized the need to move beyond blame games and focus on facts and transparency,” Tarar said, adding that the country remains on the front lines of the fight against terrorism.

The minister further alleged that networks behind terrorist activities in Pakistan have links beyond its borders, while asserting that Pakistan continues to act as a “fortified barrier” against militancy and extremism. He highlighted the country’s long-standing policy framework aimed at countering terrorism and maintaining internal security.

Tarar also raised concerns regarding broader regional tensions, including issues related to water security, stating that any attempt to use water as a strategic tool would be unacceptable. He reaffirmed that Pakistan’s armed forces and its people stand united in responding to any form of aggression.

Referring to groups such as Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the minister reiterated Pakistan’s position that these organizations pose serious security threats and that counterterrorism efforts remain a top national priority.

He added that Pakistan had responded decisively to recent hostilities and maintained that calls for a transparent investigation into the Pahalgam incident have yet to receive a formal response from the Indian side.

Concluding his remarks, Tarar expressed condolences for those affected by the Pahalgam incident, reiterating Pakistan’s stance that addressing terrorism requires cooperation, credible evidence, and responsible engagement from all parties.
