Bannu: Terrorists of the proscribed group destroyed another public bridge by planting explosives in the Hani Khel Bachak area of Miryan tehsil, causing serious difficulties for local residents who rely on the facility for daily movement.
According to local sources, the bridge was targeted by terrorists, they couldn’t identify, using explosive material to damage the structure. Following the incident, residents of the area have faced difficulties in travelling between nearby localities, affecting routine activities and access to essential services.
The damaged bridge was an important route for the local population, and its destruction has created transportation challenges for residents, particularly those travelling for work, education, and other daily needs.
No immediate claim of responsibility has been reported regarding the attack. Security authorities have initiated efforts to assess the situation and gather information about those involved in the incident.
The incident comes amid continued security challenges in parts of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where terrorists have repeatedly attempted to disrupt public life by targeting security personnel, law enforcement agencies, and civilian infrastructure.
In recent months, Bannu and adjoining districts have witnessed multiple security incidents, including attacks targeting security forces and police personnel, as well as attempts to damage public facilities. Terrorist groups have previously targeted infrastructure such as roads, schools, and communication networks as part of efforts to create fear and disrupt normal life.
Security analysts note that attacks on civilian infrastructure represent a deliberate tactic aimed at imposing hardship on local communities and undermining development activities. By damaging public facilities, terrorist organizations attempt to create a sense of insecurity and weaken public confidence.
Security forces and law enforcement agencies have continued intelligence-based operations in the region to counter terrorist networks and prevent such attacks. Authorities have repeatedly emphasized that maintaining peace in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remains a key security priority.
The destruction of the bridge in Miryan adds to the challenges faced by local communities already affected by years of terrorism-related disruptions, highlighting the need for continued efforts to protect public infrastructure and ensure uninterrupted access to essential services.
