Terror Attack on Hangu Check Post Foiled After Three-Hour Gun Battle

An attempt by Fitna al-Khwarij terrorists to take control of Khazina Check Post in Hangu was foiled after police personnel engaged the attackers in an intense exchange of fire lasting nearly three hours.

According to police officials, terrorists launched an attack on the check post during the night and attempted to occupy the security position. However, police personnel responded immediately and launched an effective counter-action, preventing the attackers from achieving their objective.

The prolonged gun battle continued for around three hours, during which police personnel displayed resilience and successfully defended the check post against the assault.

During the exchange of fire, an Elite Force personnel sustained injuries and was provided immediate medical assistance. His condition and further details were not immediately disclosed.

Police officials said a search operation is underway in the surrounding areas to trace the attackers and ensure the security of the region.

Security has also been further strengthened around the check post and nearby areas following the attack.

The attempted assault is part of continued efforts by Fitna al-Khwarij to target security personnel and challenge law enforcement presence in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Security forces and police have continued intelligence-based and targeted operations to prevent such attacks and dismantle terrorist networks.
