A family from Bannu has publicly distanced itself from a relative who joined terrorist groups, submitting an affidavit to police and pledging not to support or defend his activities.

Nazir, the man’s brother, said the family had collectively decided to sever ties with the individual over his involvement in terrorism. He said their father, Baloch, and other family members had joined him in making the decision.

In his statement, Nazir said the family belonged to the Talgi Lalozai area and had approached the government to formally declare its position.

“We have come to the government and are ready to swear on the Holy Quran that we will not support him in any way,” Nazir said, adding that the decision had been taken after consultation among family members.

He said the family had disowned the individual and no longer had any connection with him or his activities. Nazir added that the family would accept whatever legal action the government deemed appropriate against the individual, asking only that authorities not harass the family so its members could live in peace.

The family’s statement comes amid continued efforts by law enforcement agencies to counter terrorism in Bannu and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where authorities face persistent security challenges.
