An armed attack targeted a security forces post in the Shalozan Tangi area of Upper Kurram, prompting an immediate and robust response from security personnel, according to police officials.
The attack occurred in the strategically important Shalozan Tangi area, where unidentified armed assailants opened fire on the security post. Security personnel stationed at the post responded promptly, engaging the attackers in a sustained exchange of fire to repel the assault and secure the area.
According to police sources, seven security personnel sustained injuries during the attack and were immediately shifted to nearby medical facilities for treatment. Hospital sources identified the injured personnel as Havaldar Syed Bar, Sepoy Syed Ghulam, Sepoy Arif Taj, Havaldar Mukhtiar, Sepoy Arshid, and Sepoy Shah Hussain. Authorities stated that all injured personnel are receiving medical care, while their conditions continue to be monitored.
Police officials stated that security forces launched a determined counter-response immediately after the attack, forcing the assailants to retreat from the area. During the exchange, multiple attackers were reportedly killed or injured, although the exact number has not yet been officially confirmed.
According to police sources, the fleeing attackers abandoned the body of one of their associates while escaping the scene, indicating the intensity of the security forces’ response.
Security personnel have since secured the affected area and initiated search and clearance operations to ensure that no remaining assailants are present in the vicinity. Reinforcements have also been deployed to strengthen security and prevent any further hostile activity.
