Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, dialogue and diplomatic engagement, while making clear that Pakistan will defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity against any aggression.
Speaking in an interview with Al Arabiya News, the DG ISPR said Pakistan remains a strong proponent of regional peace and stability. He emphasized that the country’s policy of multi-alignment and multi-engagement enables Pakistan to maintain constructive relations with different stakeholders and contribute to efforts aimed at resolving regional disputes through dialogue.
Lt. Gen. Chaudhary said Pakistan’s political and military leadership is actively reaching out to all relevant parties to encourage dialogue and facilitate a negotiated resolution to ongoing disputes.
He stressed that Pakistan’s preference is for diplomacy and a peaceful settlement rather than a military solution, underscoring the importance of sustained engagement at a time of heightened regional tensions. The DG ISPR said Pakistan’s engagement with multiple regional and international partners provides it with the ability to communicate with different sides and encourage meaningful dialogue.
He maintained that Pakistan’s objective is to contribute to regional stability and prevent conflicts from escalating into broader confrontations. Pakistan, he said, continues to believe that disputes should ultimately be addressed through diplomatic channels and negotiated solutions wherever possible.
At the same time, Lt. Gen. Chaudhary made clear that Pakistan’s pursuit of peace should not be interpreted as a lack of resolve in defending the country. He stated that Pakistan would defend itself at any cost in the event of aggression against its territory.
The DG ISPR further said that, should Pakistan come under attack, the country would respond decisively and at a cost that, in his words, the opposing side would remember for generations. The statement reflects Pakistan’s declared position that diplomatic efforts for peace and the country’s right to self-defence are not contradictory. Islamabad continues to advocate dialogue while maintaining that any act of aggression against Pakistan would be met with a determined response.
Lt. Gen. Chaudhary’s remarks highlighted what Pakistan describes as a dual approach to regional security: active diplomacy to prevent conflict and credible national defence to deter aggression. He reiterated that Pakistan’s political and military leadership would continue engaging all relevant stakeholders in pursuit of peace, dialogue and a negotiated outcome, while remaining prepared to safeguard Pakistan’s national interests and territorial sovereignty.
The DG ISPR’s comments come amid heightened regional security concerns and underscore Pakistan’s stated preference for diplomacy, mediation and engagement, alongside a firm commitment to national defence.
