Pakistan’s security forces effectively repulsed an unprovoked cross-border attack after Afghan Taliban forces opened heavy fire on Pakistani border posts in the Kurram sector, according to security sources.
Security sources said the Afghan Taliban targeted Pakistani border positions with heavy weapons, mortars and other arms without any provocation, attempting to escalate tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
In response, Pakistan’s security forces launched an immediate, calibrated and robust retaliatory operation. Using both light and heavy weaponry, including artillery, the forces precisely engaged multiple Afghan Taliban border posts, mortar positions and defensive installations involved in the attack.
According to security sources, the swift and effective response by Pakistan’s security forces silenced the enemy’s guns and neutralized the sources of hostile fire, forcing the attackers to halt their aggression.
The retaliatory action compelled Afghan Taliban personnel to abandon several forward positions and retreat from their posts, security sources said, adding that Pakistan’s forces maintained complete operational control over all border positions throughout the engagement.
Security sources emphasized that Pakistan’s security forces remain fully vigilant and combat-ready to defend the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. They reaffirmed that any act of aggression or cross-border provocation would continue to receive an immediate, decisive and proportionate response.
The overall security situation along the border is being closely monitored, with all formations maintaining a high state of operational preparedness to counter any further hostile activity, according to security sources.
