In a major success against terrorism, Bannu Police, under the leadership of District Police Officer (DPO) Captain (Retired) Muhammad Furqan Bilal, conducted a successful Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in the village of Greda Shah Jahan, District Bannu, in close coordination with the Elite Force, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and the Pakistan Army.
The operation was launched on the basis of credible intelligence regarding the presence of Khawarij terrorists and their facilitators in the area. During the operation, the Pakistan Army effectively cordoned off the locality and established strategic blocking positions at key locations, sealing all possible escape routes to ensure that no militant could flee the area.
During the operation, District Police personnel successfully engaged the militants, resulting in the killing of one Khariji terrorist. A Kalashnikov assault rifle, multiple magazines, and a bandolier were recovered from the deceased militant.
In the subsequent search operation, law enforcement personnel detained eight suspected facilitators and associates, who have been handed over to the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and the District Police for further joint technical investigation to establish their alleged links with the Khawarij network and any involvement in terrorist activities.
Security forces also searched the residence of wanted Khariji commander Zargul alias “Uncle,” where they recovered two Honda CD-125 motorcycles and one rickshaw. The recovered vehicles have been taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
The successful operation highlights the close coordination and operational synergy among Bannu Police, the Elite Force, CTD, and the Pakistan Army in dismantling Khawarij networks and preventing terrorist activities in the district.
Bannu Police reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism, maintaining law and order, and protecting the lives and property of the public. The police stated that intelligence-led operations against Khawarij terrorists, their facilitators, and other anti-state elements will continue with the same determination, professionalism, and resolve until lasting peace is restored across the district.
