Major IBO in Mangla Zarghoon, 35+ FAH Operatives Neutralised, 3 Key Commanders Arrested: Shahid Rind

In a major success for Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts, security forces conducting an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in the Mangla Zarghoon mountain range near Quetta have eliminated more than 35 Khawarij associated with Fitna al-Hindustan, while arresting three key commanders during the ongoing operation.

The operation, launched on May 13 based on credible intelligence regarding the presence and movement of hostile elements in the region, continues to target terrorist infrastructure, facilitation networks, and operational hideouts in the strategically significant mountainous terrain of Mangla Zarghoon.

According to Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Balochistan, Shahid Rind, the operation has achieved significant successes against anti-state elements attempting to destabilise peace and security in the province.

“More than 35 Khawarij linked to Fitna al-Hindustan have been neutralised during the intelligence-based operation,” Shahid Rind stated while briefing the media. He further confirmed that three high-value commanders belonging to the network were apprehended alive during the operation.

Officials stated that multiple terrorist camps, hideouts, and logistical facilities used by the Khawarij were successfully destroyed during the coordinated action. Security sources added that weapons, communication equipment, and operational material were also recovered from the targeted locations.

Authorities believe the arrests of the senior commanders have provided valuable intelligence regarding the operational structure, support mechanisms, and future plans of the network. Based on the information obtained during interrogations, further targeted operations are currently underway in adjoining areas.

The rugged Mangla Zarghoon region, known for its difficult terrain and remote access routes, has long been considered sensitive from a security perspective. Officials noted that militant elements had attempted to exploit the geography of the area to establish temporary hideouts and facilitate subversive activities aimed at undermining stability in Balochistan.

Shahid Rind emphasised that the ongoing operation is vital for ensuring lasting peace and stability in both Balochistan and Pakistan as a whole. He stated that the state is intensifying efforts not only against armed Khawarij elements but also against facilitators, financiers, and support networks allegedly involved in aiding terrorist activities.

“The circle is tightening around facilitators and handlers of Fitna al-Khawarij,” he said. “The State of Pakistan will continue its operations without interruption until terrorism is eliminated completely.”

Security officials reiterated that Pakistan’s law enforcement and security institutions remain fully committed to safeguarding national security and protecting citizens from extremist violence. They stressed that intelligence-led operations across sensitive regions will continue based on actionable intelligence and evolving threat assessments.

The successful operation reflects the continued coordination between intelligence agencies, law enforcement institutions, and security forces in countering terrorism and dismantling networks seeking to spread fear and instability within the country.
