Security Forces have successfully eliminated eight Khawarij during an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan, according to security sources. The operation was launched on the basis of actionable intelligence regarding the presence of Khawarij elements in the area. During the operation, Security Forces effectively targeted and destroyed the terrorists’ hideouts, inflicting significant losses on the group.
According to security sources, eight Khawarij were killed during the operation. Following the successful engagement, Security Forces recovered a substantial quantity of weapons, ammunition and other military equipment from the terrorists’ possession.
The recovery of the weapons and ammunition is being assessed as further evidence of the operational infrastructure maintained by the Khawarij in the area. Security Forces also conducted clearance and sanitisation activities following the operation to ensure that the targeted area was secured and that remaining terrorist elements could not regroup or re-establish their positions.
During the operation, the Khawarij reportedly attempted to use a mosque as a shield in an effort to evade the advancing Security Forces. Security Forces exercised maximum care and professional restraint, keeping the sanctity of the mosque fully in consideration while engaging the terrorist elements.
Through a carefully executed operation, the Khawarij were successfully neutralised while ensuring that the religious sanctity of the place was respected. The incident highlights the challenges faced by Security Forces when terrorist elements deliberately attempt to exploit sensitive civilian and religious locations for concealment and protection. Security Forces also successfully destroyed the Khawarij hideouts identified during the intelligence-based operation.
The destruction of these positions is expected to further disrupt the ability of the terrorist elements to organise, store weapons, plan attacks and establish operational footholds in the area.
