A police vehicle transporting detained suspects came under a sudden attack by Khawarij elements in Hangu district, resulting in the deaths of two accused individuals and injuries to a police constable, according to preliminary reports.
The incident occurred near the Sarozai area when an Investigation Police vehicle was returning from court proceedings and transporting suspects to jail custody. The detainees had been arrested in connection with a high-profile case involving the abduction, sexual assault, and murder of a minor child.
According to initial information, unidentified Khawarij belonging to Fitna-al-Khawarij opened indiscriminate fire on the police vehicle while it was en route to the detention facility. The attack occurred suddenly, catching the escort team by surprise and creating a tense security situation in the area.
As a result of the firing, two detained suspects, identified as Dilshad son of Sharif and Amanullah alias TTP son of Hameed, were killed on the spot. Police Constable Safeer-ur-Rehman, who was accompanying the prisoners, sustained injuries during the attack and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. Medical authorities are closely monitoring his condition.
The police vehicle also suffered partial damage during the assault.
Upon receiving information about the incident, heavy contingents of police rushed to the scene and secured the area. A comprehensive search and clearance operation was immediately launched to trace and apprehend the attackers responsible for the ambush. Security personnel cordoned off surrounding localities and conducted extensive searches as part of ongoing efforts to prevent the perpetrators from escaping.
