Iranian Parliamentary Speaker Commends Pakistan and FM Asim Munir for Role in Lebanon Ceasefire Efforts

The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has praised the State of Pakistan and Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, for their role in facilitating a ceasefire in Lebanon, highlighting Islamabad’s growing diplomatic engagement in regional peace efforts.

In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Speaker Ghalibaf expressed his gratitude for Pakistan’s mediation efforts, acknowledging that the ceasefire was made possible through the constructive role played by the Pakistani state and Field Marshal Asim Munir.

“I extend my appreciation to the State of Pakistan and Field Marshal Asim Munir for their mediation efforts, which contributed to achieving the ceasefire,” he stated.

While welcoming the development, Ghalibaf emphasized that the ceasefire also reflects the sustained struggle of Hezbollah and resistance forces, noting that the situation will be approached with caution. He reiterated Iran’s commitment to remain steadfast alongside its allies until a “complete sense of victory” is realized.

The remarks come in the context of ongoing high-level engagements between Iranian and Pakistani leadership in Tehran. During his official visit to Iran, Field Marshal Asim Munir held a meeting with Speaker Ghalibaf, where both sides discussed matters of mutual interest and avenues for enhanced bilateral cooperation.

In a separate engagement a day earlier, Field Marshal Asim Munir also met with Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi. During the meeting, Foreign Minister Araghchi thanked Pakistan for hosting diplomatic negotiations and underscored the shared commitment of both countries to promoting peace and stability in the region.

He noted that the joint resolve of Iran and Pakistan reflects the depth of their bilateral relations and their alignment on key regional priorities.

Field Marshal Asim Munir is currently on an official visit to Iran. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations, the visit is part of a broader series of diplomatic engagements linked to ongoing mediation efforts involving the United States and Iran.

The visit and accompanying discussions underscore Pakistan’s increasingly active role in regional diplomacy, particularly in conflict resolution and facilitation of dialogue among key stakeholders.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued engagement and coordination aimed at advancing regional peace, stability, and constructive bilateral relations.
