An explosion struck a Taliban recruitment center in Firozkoh, the capital of Ghor province, after an attack was claimed by a group identifying itself as the Green Movement, according to statements and local sources.
The group alleged that its operatives planted explosive material inside the Taliban army recruitment facility and detonated it, releasing a video purporting to show the aftermath of the incident. It further claimed that specially trained members carried out the operation and described it as part of an ongoing campaign against Taliban structures.
Sources confirmed hearing a loud blast in the city on Tuesday, saying the explosion originated near the recruitment command building. However, there has been no independent confirmation of casualties or the extent of damage caused by the blast.
The group said it does not yet have verified figures on losses but vowed to continue its operations, stating that its campaign would persist “until Afghanistan is liberated.”
The claim marks the second time the group has publicly asserted responsibility for an attack on Taliban-linked targets, separate from other resistance factions operating in Afghanistan’s political and armed opposition landscape.
A Taliban spokesperson, responding to inquiries, denied that any such attack had taken place.
The incident comes against the backdrop of worsening humanitarian conditions in Afghanistan, where foreign media reporting has highlighted deepening poverty and economic collapse. In recent reporting from Ghor province, families described extreme hardship driven by unemployment and hunger, with some households forced into desperate measures, including selling children to afford medical treatment and basic survival needs, underscoring the fragile and volatile conditions across the region.
