The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has categorically rejected claims reported by Afghan media alleging that Pakistani security forces carried out cross-border strikes targeting civilian sites in Afghanistan’s Kunar province, including Sayed Jamaluddin Afghani University.
According to an official statement issued from the federal capital, the allegations aired by Afghan television channel Tolo News claimed that Pakistani forces conducted attacks on April 27, 2026, resulting in three fatalities and injuries to 45 individuals. The report further alleged that the university campus and nearby residential areas were targeted.
The Ministry described these claims as “entirely false and fabricated,” emphasizing that no such operation was conducted against the university or any civilian infrastructure. “These allegations are baseless and appear to be part of a deliberate effort to mislead the public and attract unwarranted sympathy,” the statement said.
Officials stressed that Pakistan’s security operations are precise, responsible, and based strictly on verified intelligence. They reiterated that all actions are conducted in line with international norms and are directed solely against militant elements that pose a threat to national and regional security.
The Ministry further stated that such claims are aimed at diverting attention from the alleged support provided by certain elements within Afghanistan to militant groups. It added that the dissemination of unverified information reflects a recurring pattern of misinformation.
Rejecting the reported incident as “unfounded propaganda,” the Ministry noted that similar claims have been made in the past without credible evidence. The statement also expressed concern that such narratives are subsequently amplified by segments of foreign media, particularly in India, in an attempt to advance specific agendas and distort the regional situation.
Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to peace, stability, and responsible conduct, and called on media organizations to adhere to professional journalistic standards by verifying facts before publication.
