A Saudi Arabia–returned young man, along with his mother, held a press conference at the Bannu Press Club, publicly announcing complete disassociation from a family member allegedly involved in anti-state activities. The family also demanded the immediate release of another relative they described as innocent.
Speaking at the press conference after taking an oath on the Holy Qur’an, resident of Muswari Mamikhel, Sadiq Khan son of Gul Riaz Khan, stated that he had been working in Saudi Arabia and returned to Pakistan last year. He said that on 18 December 2025, he and his brother Tariq Khan were taken into custody by police. According to him, Tariq Khan is a labourer engaged in operating a flour mill and is the sole provider for his seven children.
Sadiq Khan further stated that he was released after several days of detention; however, the incident resulted in the expiry and loss of his Saudi visa, causing him significant financial hardship. He emphasized that his family has always been law-abiding and has maintained full cooperation with state institutions.
He clarified that another brother, Shoaib Khan, who was previously a student of a religious seminary, had allegedly deviated from a lawful path and became involved in activities against the state. He stated that upon becoming aware of this development, the family immediately severed all ties with him and has had no contact or association since.
Sadiq Khan categorically stated that neither he nor his family has any involvement in or support for any activities attributed to Shoaib Khan. He reiterated that the family remains loyal to Pakistan, fully respects the Constitution and law, and will continue to stand with state institutions in all circumstances.
He further added that if Shoaib Khan or any related individual were ever to appear before them and any evidence of support or assistance is established, the government would be fully justified in taking legal action against them according to the law. He stressed that they would not, under any circumstances, become facilitators of anti-state elements.
On the occasion, Sadiq Khan’s mother also announced complete disassociation from her son Shoaib Khan, stating that the family could not be held accountable for the alleged actions of one individual. She appealed to the government and relevant authorities for the immediate release of her son Tariq Khan, insisting that he is innocent and should not be subjected to further harassment.
She further emphasized that their family has always respected the law and would continue to cooperate with state institutions in pursuit of justice. Concluding the press conference, the family urged authorities to ensure that innocent individuals are not penalized due to the alleged actions of others and to uphold principles of fairness and due process.
