A Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Sindh special team arrested a key operative of the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), identified as Dahan alias Asif Chakna, during an intelligence-based operation conducted in the jurisdiction of Saeedabad Police Station.
According to a CTD Sindh spokesperson, illegal arms were recovered from the suspect’s possession. The department had received intelligence reports indicating that Dahan alias Asif Chakna and his close associate, Muhammad Shafi, were facilitating BLA terrorists in Karachi. To avoid arrest, both individuals had been residing in hiding in Hub, Balochistan.
Investigations revealed that Muhammad Shafi is the son of BLA terrorist Bahadur PMT, who is running a sleeper cell of the banned group from a neighboring country. Bahadur PMT is also listed in CTD’s Red Book and remains a wanted fugitive.
Following the arrest, a CTD team has been dispatched to Hub to apprehend Muhammad Shafi based on the information provided by the detained suspect.
The spokesperson added that the arrested individual has previously been jailed in cases related to murder, attempted murder, and armed encounters with police. Further interrogations are underway.
