1,700+ Afghan Migrants Return via Spin Boldak, Receive Cash Aid from Authorities

Afghan Migrants, Spin Boldak

More than 1,700 Afghan migrants have returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan through the Spin Boldak border crossing in Kandahar province, local officials confirmed on Wednesday.

According to a representative of the registration and identification committee at the Anzargai refugee camp in Takhta Pul District, a total of 1,718 returnees were documented upon arrival. The official told that cash assistance was provided to the returning families by Afghan government institutions.

The official added that many of the returnees are expected to approach various aid agencies for further humanitarian support in the coming days.

The return marks another wave of repatriation amid Pakistan’s ongoing crackdown on undocumented Afghan migrants, with thousands returning home every week through major border crossings such as Spin Boldak and Torkham.
