In a coordinated operation between intelligence agencies and police, 60 Afghan nationals were arrested as part of the ongoing crackdown on foreign nationals in Pakistan. Sources revealed that the second phase of the expulsion plan had commenced following the expiration of the voluntary repatriation period for Afghan Citizen Card holders.

The arrests took place in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi based on intelligence reports. Police and security agencies carried out joint operations in several areas of Islamabad, including Tarnol, Barakahu, Ghori Town, and Mera Abadi, where 22 Afghan nationals holding Afghan Citizen Cards were detained. Additionally, 38 individuals were apprehended from Rawalpindi’s Military Colony and surrounding areas.

According to sources, the arrested Afghan nationals were transferred to a temporary camp located in the Old Haji Camp, from where they will be registered before being sent to the Khyber region. After undergoing biometric verification at the Landi Kotal camp, the deported individuals will be repatriated to Afghanistan.

Sources also indicated that Afghan nationals detained under the Foreign Act during the first phase would be sent back to their homeland, with those currently in prisons being moved to the Landi Kotal camp. The majority of Afghan nationals residing in Pakistan are in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Afghan nationals holding PoR (Proof of Registration) cards are permitted to stay in Pakistan until June 30, 2025.
