The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) announced that its fighters successfully repelled an offensive launched by Taliban forces against the Front’s defensive positions in the Zibak district of Badakhshan Province on Wednesday.
According to the Afghanistan Freedom Front, Taliban forces initiated an attack on the Front’s fortified positions earlier in the day, triggering intense clashes that continued for approximately four hours. The Front stated that its commandos maintained control of their defensive positions throughout the engagement and effectively resisted repeated Taliban assaults.
Following the successful defense of their positions, AFF fighters reportedly launched coordinated counteroffensives from multiple directions using both light and heavy weapons. The organization stated that the operation inflicted significant casualties on Taliban forces and compelled them to retreat after sustaining what it described as heavy losses.
According to the Afghanistan Freedom Front, five Taliban fighters were killed and eleven others were wounded during the fighting. The Front further claimed that none of its fighters were injured or killed during the engagement.
The Afghanistan Freedom Front described the operation as a demonstration of its operational readiness, tactical coordination, and continued ability to defend its positions against Taliban offensives. The organization credited its fighters with successfully neutralizing the attack before transitioning to a counteroffensive that forced Taliban units to withdraw from the area.
The Front reiterated its commitment to continuing armed resistance against Taliban rule, stating that its forces remain prepared to respond to any future offensives while maintaining pressure on Taliban positions across Afghanistan. It further asserted that its fighters remain determined to safeguard their defensive strongholds and continue operations in pursuit of their stated objectives.
