Security forces successfully repelled an armed attack launched by Khawarij on a security check post in the Sarbandah area of Maidan, Lower Dir, according to official sources.
The Khawarij launched the attack using both small and heavy weapons, targeting the security installation in an attempt to disrupt peace and stability in the area. Security forces responded swiftly and effectively, engaging the attackers in an intense exchange of fire and preventing them from achieving their objective.
During the fierce engagement, two Khawarij were killed, while several others were reported injured. Security forces also recovered the body of one Khawarij from the site following the exchange of fire.
The intense firefight also resulted in casualties among security personnel. Naik Nasir Iqbal embraced martyrdom while displaying exceptional courage and dedication in the line of duty, while four other personnel sustained injuries during the encounter. The injured personnel were provided immediate medical assistance.
