Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) has stated that a total of 819 Pakistanis have lost their lives in terrorism-related incidents during the current year, including 303 personnel of the Pakistan Army, 194 police and other law enforcement officials, and 322 civilians.
Addressing a press conference, the DG ISPR provided an overview of the prevailing security situation and highlighted the sacrifices made by security personnel and civilians in the fight against terrorism. He emphasized that the state remains fully committed to eliminating terrorism and protecting the lives of citizens across the country.
According to the DG ISPR, 3,145 terrorism-related incidents were reported nationwide during the period under review. Out of these, 1,971 incidents occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 1,148 in Balochistan, and 26 incidents were reported in other parts of the country.
Presenting a comparison of counterterrorism operations with previous years, the DG ISPR stated that 2,597 terrorists were eliminated in 2025, while despite only around half of the current year having passed, 2,084 terrorists have already been neutralized so far, reflecting the intensified pace and effectiveness of security operations.
He said that security forces have significantly enhanced their operational capabilities and continue to conduct intelligence-based operations with full determination to dismantle terrorist networks, eliminate facilitators, and prevent hostile elements from carrying out attacks.
The DG ISPR stated that analysis of previous years’ data indicates improved effectiveness of counterterrorism efforts. He noted that while the number of casualties among security personnel and civilians remained a serious concern in earlier years, ongoing operations have resulted in significant successes against terrorist organizations.
Addressing the increase in reported terrorism incidents, the DG ISPR explained that one of the major reasons behind the rise is the intensified pressure and expanded operations launched by security forces against terrorist elements. He stated that as direct operational strategies of terrorists faced setbacks, they attempted to expand their activities and support networks from areas under Taliban administration in Afghanistan.
The DG ISPR reiterated that Pakistan’s policy against terrorism is clear, with no space for compromise or leniency towards those involved in violence against the state and innocent citizens. He stated that individuals involved in terrorism have only two options: to surrender before the state in accordance with the Constitution and law, or face decisive action through state operations.
He further stated that a detailed briefing regarding the security situation in Balochistan, the reasons behind fluctuations in terrorism incidents, and the state’s comprehensive strategy would also be presented, as the security challenges remain a matter of national concern.
Reaffirming the resolve of Pakistan’s security institutions, the DG ISPR said that intelligence-based operations and counterterrorism measures will continue with full force until terrorism is completely eliminated and lasting peace and stability are ensured across the country.
