Security forces, in coordination with police, eliminated a highly wanted commander of Fitna al-Khawarij during an intelligence-based operation in the Wanda Semo area of Lakki Marwat, police sources said.
According to the sources, the operation was launched after credible intelligence indicated the presence of a group of terrorists in the area. As security personnel moved to surround the suspected hideout, the terrorists opened fire, prompting an intense exchange of gunfire.
During the operation, the wanted Fitna al-Khwarij commander, identified as Hazifa Marwat, was eliminated. Officials described him as a key operational commander allegedly involved in coordinating terrorist activities and facilitating attacks in parts of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Several other terrorists managed to flee the scene by exploiting the surrounding terrain. Security forces immediately established a cordon around the area and launched an extensive search and clearance operation to trace the escaping militants and dismantle any remaining terrorist infrastructure.
Police sources said the operation remains underway, with additional personnel deployed to block possible escape routes and prevent the regrouping of terrorist elements. Authorities are also collecting intelligence to identify and pursue other members of the network.
The latest success comes amid intensified intelligence-based operations across southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where security forces and law enforcement agencies have stepped up efforts to dismantle Fitna al-Khwarij networks following a series of terrorist attacks targeting civilians and security personnel. Officials maintain that operations will continue until terrorist hideouts are eliminated and lasting peace is restored in the region.
