Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held a meeting with members of the United States House of Representatives, Ryan Keith Zinke and Michael James, at the General Headquarters (GHQ), where the two sides discussed regional security, bilateral defence cooperation and avenues for expanding economic collaboration.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, the prevailing regional security environment, defence cooperation, and opportunities to enhance economic cooperation and shared prosperity.
During the meeting, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir highlighted Pakistan’s vast economic potential, emphasizing that sustainable regional stability depends on economic growth, expanded trade and stronger regional connectivity. He noted that Pakistan is pursuing structural reforms aimed at fostering a business-friendly environment and encouraging greater foreign investment.
The discussions also covered prospects for strengthening bilateral economic cooperation, promoting private sector partnerships and expanding trade relations, reflecting a shared interest in broadening engagement beyond the traditional security domain.
The visiting US congressional delegation acknowledged Pakistan’s important role in promoting regional stability and economic resilience. Drawing on the delegation’s professional experience and policy perspectives, both sides exchanged views on practical avenues for enhancing economic ties and institutional cooperation.
The US delegation thanked the military leadership for the warm hospitality extended during the visit and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening economic, trade and institutional relations between the United States and Pakistan. Both sides also expressed the desire to maintain constructive engagement on issues of mutual interest and to build on existing cooperation for regional peace, stability and long-term prosperity.
