Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and district police conducted a successful intelligence-based operation against Fitna al-Khwarij in Bannu district, resulting in the elimination of five terrorists.
According to the CTD spokesperson, the operation was launched on the basis of intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area. As soon as the security personnel moved in, the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire in an attempt to resist the operation.
The law enforcement personnel responded effectively and engaged the terrorists, neutralizing five of them during the exchange of fire, while several others managed to escape from the scene.
Following the operation, a heavy contingent of police reached the area and launched a comprehensive search and clearance operation to trace and apprehend the fleeing terrorists.
Authorities said the identification process of the eliminated terrorists is underway, along with criminal profiling and forensic analysis to determine their involvement in terrorist activities and attacks.
A significant cache of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the terrorists’ possession. The recovered items included five Kalashnikov rifles, ten magazines, five bandoliers, two hand grenades and a large quantity of ammunition.
The operation highlights the continued efforts of security forces and law enforcement agencies to dismantle terrorist networks and prevent attacks by Fitna al-Khwarij in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
