The Government of Pakistan has categorically rejected what it described as a baseless statement issued by India’s Ministry of External Affairs regarding Pakistan’s recent counter-terrorism actions targeting terrorist infrastructure inside Afghanistan.
Responding to media queries, the Spokesperson of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Tahir Andrabi, stated that Pakistan’s actions were legitimate, targeted, and proportionate measures undertaken solely to safeguard the country’s national security and protect its citizens from cross-border terrorist threats.
According to the Foreign Office, Pakistan firmly rejects India’s characterization of these operations and maintains that its actions were conducted in accordance with international law and were directed exclusively against terrorist infrastructure posing a direct threat to Pakistan’s security.
The spokesperson further stated that India’s remarks lack credibility and ignore what Pakistan describes as India’s own historical record of interfering in the internal affairs of neighboring countries. The statement asserted that such actions have undermined the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states in the region and stand in contradiction to the principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations.
The Foreign Office also reiterated Pakistan’s longstanding position regarding Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), stating that India continues to deny the Kashmiri people their internationally recognized right to self-determination in violation of relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
Addressing regional security concerns, the spokesperson further alleged that India has been actively supporting and sponsoring terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory against Pakistan, describing such activities as inconsistent with the relevant United Nations Security Council sanctions framework. The statement maintained that these actions have contributed to regional instability and accused India of acting as a destabilizing force in South Asia.
Pakistan further rejected what it termed as baseless accusations and inflammatory rhetoric directed against the country, emphasizing that such statements neither alter the facts on the ground nor diminish Pakistan’s commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms.
Reaffirming the country’s position, the Foreign Office stated that Pakistan remains committed to acting responsibly while exercising its inherent right to self-defense. The government emphasized that all necessary and appropriate measures will continue to be taken to safeguard the lives, security, and well-being of Pakistani citizens in full accordance with international law and the principles governing state sovereignty.
The statement concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve to continue protecting its national interests while contributing to regional peace and stability through responsible and lawful actions against terrorist threats.
