Security forces have launched an intelligence-based operation in the Jani Khel area of Bannu district targeting suspected militant elements. According to security officials, the operation was initiated following intelligence reports regarding the presence and movement of armed individuals in the area. The action forms part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts aimed at eliminating militant networks operating in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Officials stated that the operation is currently underway and security forces have established control over key positions in the targeted locality. Further details regarding engagements and outcomes will be shared as the situation develops.
Security sources further noted that intelligence inputs suggest a linkage between elements operating in Jani Khel and previously neutralized militants in the broader region.
They added that during an earlier operation in Miryan, a majority of the individuals neutralized were reportedly affiliated with Jani Khel-based networks, indicating a pattern of cross-area militant presence and coordination.
Authorities emphasized that such operations are part of a sustained strategy to dismantle militant infrastructure, restore law and order, and ensure long-term stability in the region.
Security forces reiterated their commitment to continuing targeted actions against armed groups, stressing that intelligence-based operations remain central to counterterrorism efforts in the province.
The operation remains ongoing, and further updates will be issued by official channels as verified information becomes available.
