A solemn and distinguished ceremony is being held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi to mark the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, the landmark operation carried out in response to Indian aggression. The event pays tribute to the extraordinary courage of Pakistan’s armed forces and honors the martyrs, veterans, and civilians whose sacrifices ensured the nation’s resilience and underscored Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to sovereignty, national dignity, and regional stability.
Chief of Defence Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, addressed the ceremony, stating, “Today is a day of pride for all of us. The enemy’s aggression was met with national unity, courage, and determination, and Pakistan has consistently foiled every hostile attempt against it.”
Highlighting the broader significance, Field Marshal Munir emphasized that Marka-e-Haq was not merely a conflict between two nations, but a decisive clash between two opposing ideologies—where justice prevailed and falsehood suffered defeat. “By the grace of Allah, Pakistan, its people, and its armed forces achieved an unprecedented victory that will continue to shape the moral and strategic balance in the region,” he said.
He further noted India’s attempt to alter regional power dynamics through military aggression and diplomatic isolation. “India’s ambitions far exceed its capabilities, and Pakistan will never allow such designs to succeed,” Field Marshal Munir asserted, framing the operation as a critical moment not only in military terms but in the ideological and political landscape of South Asia.
The ceremony also highlighted the human dimension of the conflict. Senior military leaders, including Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Baber Sidhu, Chief of Air Staff, and Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of Naval Staff, visited the Martyrs’ Memorial, laid floral tributes, and offered prayers in honor of the fallen. Disciplined contingents from the Army, Navy, and Air Force presented a formal salute, demonstrating the unity, professionalism, and preparedness of Pakistan’s armed forces.
Paying homage to all martyrs and veterans, Field Marshal Munir expressed special respect for the innocent women, children, and elderly who lost their lives. “We consider the sacrifices of our martyrs as a sacred trust, our strength as a responsibility, and our victories as blessings from the Almighty,” he said.
He also underscored Pakistan’s uncompromising stance on sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national dignity. “India suffered severe human and material losses during this conflict, the effects of which it will feel for years to come,” he warned, linking the operational success to long-term strategic consequences.
Field Marshal Munir highlighted the precision of Pakistan’s military response: “Our missiles and the aerial prowess of the Pakistan Air Force successfully struck over 26 enemy military targets, demonstrating that Pakistan’s defense is fully impregnable against any external aggression. Any future misadventures by the adversary will have far-reaching, severe, and unavoidable consequences.”
Earlier, on the occasion of the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, Field Marshal Asim Munir, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Baber Sidhu, and Admiral Naveed Ashraf extended congratulatory messages to the nation and the armed forces, recognizing the victory as a testament to the preparedness, dedication, and professional expertise of Pakistan’s military.
A statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reiterated: “With the steadfast support of the nation, the Armed Forces are fully prepared to confront all internal and external challenges. The success of Marka-e-Haq demonstrates the operational readiness, discipline, and professional competence of our forces and has decisively strengthened public confidence in the military.”
