A solemn and distinguished ceremony is underway at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi to mark the first anniversary of Operation Bunyan al-Marsous, conducted in response to Indian aggression and culminating in the historic victory of Marka-e-Haq. The event honors the armed forces’ exemplary courage and commemorates the martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation.
Addressing the ceremony, Chief of the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, said: “Today is a day of pride for all of us. One year ago, our forces achieved an unprecedented success. The enemy attempted to undermine our national resolve, but our armed forces responded decisively and with unmatched skill.”
Field Marshal Munir emphasized that Marka-e-Haq was not merely a conflict between two nations, but a defining clash between two ideologies. “From the night of May 6–7 through May 10, the adversary sought to challenge our national dignity. Yet, Pakistan’s forces stood firm and delivered a decisive response to Indian aggression,” he added.
He further highlighted that the events of May 2025 were not sudden or isolated. The enemy had historically attempted to malign Pakistan with baseless accusations, but the successful outcome of Marka-e-Haq reinforced the country’s resilience and ensured repeated defeat for adversarial attempts.
Earlier, senior military leaders, including Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Baber Sidhu and Admiral Naveed Ashraf, visited the Martyrs’ Memorial at GHQ. They offered floral tributes and recited Fatiha in honor of the fallen heroes. The ceremony also featured a formal salute from disciplined contingents of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, reflecting the unity and professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces.
A statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) noted: “With the steadfast support of the nation, the Armed Forces remain fully prepared to confront all internal and external challenges. The victory in Marka-e-Haq demonstrates the operational readiness, dedication, and professional competence of our forces and has decisively strengthened public confidence in the Armed Forces.”
The commemorative event underscores Pakistan’s enduring commitment to national security and the values of courage, sacrifice, and service, while celebrating the strategic vision and operational excellence demonstrated during Marka-e-Haq.
