Pakistan’s security forces eliminated five Indian-sponsored khwarij during two separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
The operations were conducted on the night between May 7 and 8 in Tank and Dera Ismail Khan districts following reports regarding the presence of terrorists linked to the banned Fitna-Al-Khwarij, says the statement issued by ISPR.
In the first operation carried out in Tank district, security forces effectively engaged the terrorist hideout during an intense exchange of fire, resulting in the elimination of four Indian-sponsored terrorists.
A separate intelligence-based operation was later conducted in Dera Ismail Khan district, where troops neutralized another terrorist during a firefight.
The ISPR said weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the eliminated terrorists, who had remained actively involved in multiple terrorist activities in the area.
The military’s media wing further stated that sanitization operations were continuing to eliminate any remaining terrorists present in the area.
It added that Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue the counterterrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
