Afghanistan Freedom Front Claims Targeted Attack on Logar Provincial Headquarters

The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) has announced that its fighters carried out a targeted attack against a Taliban-controlled facility in Pul-e-Alam, the provincial capital of Logar, on the evening of Friday, May 1, 2026.

According to a statement released by the group, the attack occurred at approximately 8:00 PM local time and was directed at the Logar provincial headquarters building. The AFF described the operation as a “precision strike” aimed specifically at Taliban personnel present at the site.

The group claims that two Taliban members were killed and two others were injured as a result of the attack. No additional details have been provided regarding the identities of those affected or the extent of damage to the facility.

As of the time of this release, the claims have not been independently verified, and there has been no official response from Taliban authorities.

Pul-e-Alam, located south of Kabul, remains a strategically important area in eastern Afghanistan. Security conditions in the region have been marked by intermittent armed incidents involving anti-Taliban groups.

The Afghanistan Freedom Front is among several groups opposing Taliban rule since their return to power in 2021 and has previously claimed responsibility for similar operations targeting Taliban positions in multiple provinces.

Observers note that such incidents underscore the continuing security challenges in Afghanistan, despite Taliban statements asserting improved stability nationwide. Civilians in affected areas continue to face uncertainty amid ongoing sporadic violence.
