Targeting innocent civilians at the border by Afghan Taliban forces is unacceptable,” says the Information Minister.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has strongly condemned the alleged targeting of innocent civilians by Afghan Taliban  along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, terming the actions “inhumane, unacceptable, and deeply condemnable.”

In a statement, the minister said that the Afghan Taliban regime has deliberately targeted civilian populations in border districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reflecting what he described as a “brutal and violent mindset” with disregard for human life.

He further stated that after suffering repeated setbacks at the hands of Pakistan’s security forces and lacking the capacity to confront them directly, the Afghan side has resorted to attacking unarmed civilians. “Targeting civilian areas is not only reprehensible but also exposes the low moral standards of the regime’s leadership,” he added.

Referring to an official statement issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Bajaur, Tarar said that unprovoked attacks by Afghan Taliban terrorist and their alleged Indian-backed proxies, referred to as “Fitna al-Khawarij,” resulted in the martyrdom of nine civilians, including six children and women, while 12 others—among them women and a minor—were injured.

He also highlighted a recent incident in which quadcopter attacks reportedly injured three civilians who were playing cricket, calling the act “openly disgraceful and shameful.”

The minister rejected allegations made by Afghan Taliban representatives accusing Pakistan of targeting civilians, calling them “baseless and misleading.” He emphasized that Pakistan’s operations are strictly aimed at terrorist infrastructure and hideouts within areas under Taliban control.

“Whenever Pakistan conducts operations against Terrorist it ensures transparency and promptly shares verified information with the public,” he said, adding that all possible measures are taken to avoid civilian casualties.

Tarar reaffirmed that Pakistan’s fight against terrorism is grounded in “truth, principles, dignity, determination, and faith,” contrasting it with what he described as the “deceitful and immoral tactics” of terrorist  and their facilitators.
