Security forces eliminated six terrorists, including an improvised explosive device (IED) expert identified as Qasim alias Kaka, along with five Afghan terrorists, during an intelligence-based operation in the Zanagara area of South Waziristan district.
According to security sources, the operation was launched on the basis of credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists involved in planning and facilitating attacks. Troops engaged the terrorists in a precise and coordinated action, resulting in the elimination of all six individuals.
Qasim alias Kaka was described as a key bomb-making specialist linked to multiple IED attacks targeting security forces and civilian populations. His elimination is being viewed as a significant setback to terrorist operational capability in the area.
Following the operation, militants reportedly retrieved the bodies of the eliminated terrorists from the site, a pattern often associated with attempts to conceal identities and manage propaganda narratives.
Security officials confirmed that sanitization operations were carried out in the surrounding area to ensure no remaining terrorist presence, as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts across the region.
The development comes amid continued security volatility in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In a separate incident in North Waziristan’s Darpakhel area, local tribesmen acted against terrorists following a jirga decision to expel them from the region, resulting in armed clashes and multiple casualties. The situation remains tense as intermittent exchanges of fire have been reported, underscoring parallel pressures from both security operations and local resistance against terrorist presence.
