The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Peshawar has dismissed the interim bail application of an accused nominated in the high-profile police mobile suicide attack case, reinforcing judicial proceedings in one of the province’s most serious terrorism-related investigations.
The hearing was conducted by ATC Judge Wali Muhammad Khan, who after reviewing the arguments presented, rejected the bail plea of accused Muhammad Mustafa. Immediately following the court’s decision, law enforcement authorities took the accused into custody directly from the courtroom.
According to the prosecution, Muhammad Mustafa is formally nominated in a case involving a suicide attack on a police mobile unit, an incident that resulted in significant loss of life and injuries to both law enforcement personnel and civilians.
The prosecution informed the court that the attack led to the martyrdom of Sub-Inspector Laeeq Zada and Constable Alamzeb, who died in the line of duty. In addition, two police officials and two passersby sustained injuries in the violent incident.
Emphasizing the gravity of the charges, the prosecution argued that the accused is implicated in a serious act of terrorism and therefore does not qualify for any legal leniency at this stage of proceedings.
It was further submitted before the court that the nomination of Muhammad Mustafa in the case is supported by the statement of co-accused Gul Saud, which forms part of the evidentiary material presented during the investigation.
The case continues to proceed under the jurisdiction of the Anti-Terrorism Court, as investigations and legal proceedings remain ongoing in connection with the deadly attack targeting law enforcement personnel.
